Mana:

I love your very first Instagram post you’ve made, it was a quote from Bridgett Devoue’s book, Soft Thorns “We’re only haunted by the things we refuse to accept”. That is a beautiful quote, explain why you picked this quote?

Navya C:

Oh, that was very long ago, but I think this quote really spoke to me, and I believe it has a very deep meaning. I perceive it as if you can accept something that is a part of you, or at least come to terms with it, it will always be there to haunt you.

Mana:

Can you share your favourite book or series and why it resonates with you?

Navya C:

Definitely, “The Folk of the Air” series. I was never a fantasy enthusiast, and “The Cruel Prince” was the first fantasy book I picked up. At first it was captivating but not particularly eye-catching. However, when I moved on to the second book, I fell in love with the series. I adored the main character and the author’s portrayal of brutal politics in a magical world. The writing was spectacular; Holly Black truly knows how to immerse the reader. I felt every emotion from the characters. It was incredibly well-written, and the plot was amazing, without a doubt.

Mana:

Are there any other creative outlets or hobbies that you enjoy besides reading?

Navya C:

Yes, I enjoy a lot of, mostly. I’ve been practising my pencil sketch skills for a long while now and find it quite relaxing. Another art form I enjoy is writing, whether it’s a story or a poem; I think it’s a beautiful form of art. I also enjoy crocheting sometimes, though I don’t do it that often. It’s a hobby I still have. Recently, I discovered my love for puzzle making. It’s such a simple-minded task, and I enjoy it, in anticipation of the final result.

Mana:

Your blackout poetry piece based on “Glimpse of Us” by Joji is beautiful, have you thought about pursuing poetry or songwriting as a career?

Navya C:

Oh no, I have never considered pursuing a poetry career. Songwriting, I have, but it has never been my life goal or anything. I’ve tried a few lyrics pieces just for fun, but I’ve never gone through with them. I just like doing it and while I think poetry is amazing. I’ve never been able to do them. I’ve tried, and I do write some poetry here and there, but I’ve never put much time into it.

Mana:

Your dedication posts to your best friend are heartwarming! Can you tell us more about your friendship and what makes it so special?

Navya C:

I suppose my best friend has always been there for me, and I feel that she should know that. This is why I usually post dedication messages to her so she understands how much she means to me.

Mana:

If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would it be and why?

Navya C:

That is quite a difficult question. I have no idea there are so many characters I would love to have dinner with. However, I think the one I would choose is Jude Duarte because I admire her character, her bravery, and everything her. And not to mention I would absolutely love to talk with someone from the faerie world.

Mana:

What’s your go-to reading spot? Do you prefer cozy at home reading or exploring outdoor reading spots?

Navya C:

I believe I am somewhere in between. As much as I enjoy being cozied up in my bedroom, blasting music and reading under my sheets, I would also love to explore reading spots like those library cafes. I would love to visit one of them. So, I guess I don’t really have a preferred spot; I think I can read literally anywhere.

Mana:

Are there any book-related memes or trends that make you laugh or roll your eyes?

Navya C:

I don’t spend a lot of time on social media, so I’m not quite sure what’s in trend right now, but I remember this trend on BookTok that goes like “worst book I’ve read because of BookTok” and then they place a book that’s not even that bad. It gets me mad sometimes. Another one that makes me laugh is when they “5 books you should never read” and then they mention books they like and give sarcastic reasons why you shouldn’t, like “MMC is too perfect” and stuff like that. They make me laugh.
